I have used the Zone System since 1979 for all my work in both colour and mono, both in the studio and out in the landscape. I have exhibited my mono and colour work both in the UK and in Europe. My teaching experience has been gained through having a Certificate in Education from Manchester Metropolitan University, teaching part-time in Art colleges and by conducting practical photography workshops in the UK, in France and currently in Spain.

With seven published photography books in five languages to my credit, three eBooks and numerous photography articles published, I am also a very experienced writer. Over the last 15 years, I have become an advanced practitioner in digital imaging (still using the Zone System), especially for personal work (see my Galleries) and for my book writing. In fact, six of my seven published books and my three eBooks deal with digital imaging.

My first aim is to teach as many people as possible the correct use of a 'Creative Exposure System' based on the Ansel Adams Zone System. This applies both to the use of traditional film AND the current digital cameras no matter how many auto programs they contain!

The problem is that many people never gain confidence in their practical exposure control skills (switch the camera to 'manual' and most users are completely lost!) and yet this is a crucial skill to learn to obtain high quality digital and film images, and also it is so easy to learn!

My next aim is to teach serious practical photography and creative digital techniques based on my professional knowledge and experience to enhance a person's own creative work.
